This move follows a previous reduction of about 50 employees at Playtika's subsidiary, Wooga, two weeks prior . The company has not provided further comments on the layoffs.
Jagex confirms layoffs in operational restructuring
Jagex, the developer behind RuneScape, has confirmed a round of layoffs affecting non-development and non-player-facing roles. The company stated that these changes aim to "reduce complexity, increase agility, and ensure we are fully focused on the areas that matter most". The layoffs are not connected to the recent cancellation of Project Zanaris, an Old School RuneScape initiative. Jagex emphasised that its development roadmap remains unchanged despite the staff reductions.
Epic Games Store mobile app surpasses 40 million downloads
Since its launch in August 2024, the mobile version of the Epic Games Store has achieved over 40 million downloads worldwide. Despite falling short of its initial projection of 100 million downloads by January 2025, Epic attributes the slower growth to security warnings on Android and iOS platforms that may deter users . The company plans to expand the iOS version of the store to Brazil, the United Kingdom, and Japan within the year. Additionally, Epic has introduced a new revenue model, offering a 0% commission on the first $1 million in revenue per game annually, with a 12% commission thereafter.
