After a summer packed with record breakers and anime crossovers, September brought a cooler, but no less fascinating,  month for mobile gaming. The season’s end saw Roblox climb back to the top while long-time leader Honor of Kings finally slipped, and the post-holiday slowdown hit most of the regular top earners.

September saw Roblox reclaim the mobile revenue crown, earning $122 million across iOS and Google Play. That’s down from August’s record $150 million, but still enough to dethrone Honor of Kings, which cooled after months at the top. Roblox’s momentum from Grow a Garden and Steal a Brainrot lingered, helped by back-to-school live-ops and constant avatar drops that kept kids logging in – and spending.

Last War: Survival held firm in second with $117.7 million, slipping only slightly from $125.8 million in August. FUNFLY’s apocalypse remains one of the most efficient monetisation engines on mobile, even if the end of summer dulled spending a touch.

Down to $115.7 million from August’s $173 million, Honor of Kings finally eased off the throttle. Tencent’s MOBA giant felt the comedown after its Jujutsu Kaisen crossover ended early in the month, though it still comfortably sits among the top three.

Whiteout Survival stayed icy and consistent at $109 million versus $127.5 million last month. New migration and prestige features kept top spenders busy, while Royal Match continued its unflappable run with $106 million, down only slightly from August’s $116 million – another reminder that steady, sticky engagement often beats flashy spikes.

MONOPOLY GO! brought in $88.9 million (down from $98 million), powered by a fresh wave of partner events like Golden Blitz and Ice Cream Partners. Candy Crush Saga followed with $80.6 million, a modest dip from August but sweetened by the Candy Cup tournament that reliably drives booster sales.

After a monster $132 million August, PUBG Mobile cooled to $76.6 million as the Transformers buzz faded, though the late-month Spooky Soirée update sets October up nicely. Clash Royale continued its comeback story with $68.6 million – up fivefold year-on-year – while newcomer Kingshot rounded out the list at $66.4 million, matching its August debut and cementing itself as 2025’s breakout mid-core hit.

Outside the top ten

Pokémon GO dropped back down after its August festival highs, settling just outside the top 10 as player spending normalized — its live player base fell by 12.8 million from August to September, a 32.4% drop. Meanwhile, Genshin Impact enjoyed its best month in nearly a year after the Nod-Krai patch, jumping from $27.7 million in August to $41.5 million in September. Icy Veins Honkai: Star Rail wasn’t far behind, though recent reports suggest its September earnings hovered in the $35 million range. Elsewhere, Coin Master and Brawl Stars continue to hover around the lower top-20s – proof there’s still life in mobile’s old guard.
